Money Creation, Banking, and CBDC
Banks play a dual role in the economy: They grant loans (and trade assets) and simultaneously create deposits which are the main part of money. We investigate how the recognition of this dual role impacts our understanding how banks must be regulated and how well our monetary system functions.
